The Topsail Island area has one of the busiest karaoke and open-mic scenes on the southern North Carolina coast — there’s a microphone open almost every night of the week somewhere between Surf City, Holly Ridge and Sneads Ferry. This is the weekly guide to where to sing and where to play, plus how to check the current schedule before you head out.

Where Is Karaoke on Topsail Island?
Karaoke runs most nights of the week. The most dependable rooms:
- Gilligan’s (Holly Ridge) — the area’s karaoke headquarters, with sets on Friday and Saturday nights running late.
- Topsail Island Brewing (Sneads Ferry) — weeknight karaoke in the taproom.
- Just Mike’s At JM’s Place (Surf City) — Jody Mueller’s karaoke nights.
- Loreleis Pub & Grill, Captain Mike’s Tavern & Beer Garden and the Velvet Lounge all run frequent karaoke nights as well (these venues aren’t yet in our directory — find them on the calendar).
Open-Mic Nights for Players & Songwriters
If you’d rather bring an instrument, the area has a real open-mic circuit — a great way to hear local talent or test new material:
- Sundays — open mic at the Starlite Saloon and at Captain Mike’s Tavern & Beer Garden.
- Midweek — open mic with Dale at Eventide, and Taylor Jones’ late-night open mic at Loreleis Pub & Grill.
These are live, local performers — the same scene that fills the island’s live music calendar every week.
How to Check Tonight’s Schedule
